My name is The Honorable Grand Peanut. I’m a unknown mixed breed, probably Anatolian Shepherd mixed with Lab and who knows what else. I bet I have a little bit of a lot of breeds in me, based on my size, temperament, and physical attributes. I have webbed feet, which implies water dog, and floppy ears. When my human puts my ears up, I do look like a GSD, though my snout is not as long, or as pointy. Someday my human will fork over the cash for a DNA test, but until then, I’ll just be myself: sweet, playful, smart, funny, and sometimes snarky.

Me and my four siblings were found on the side of the road in Las Vegas, NM at 5 weeks of age — who does this? — and we were transported to the Animal Shelter, where my human rescued me at 8 weeks.  I’ve had a lot of adventures in my short life: when I was 4 months old, I found a way out of the yard, and got attacked my another (unknown) animal. That experience left me with a broken leg. After 6 weeks of casts, my elbow and wrist growth plates closed too early, which left me with a sub-luxated elbow. Then it was two elbow surgeries just to save the use of my leg. This doesn’t slow me down, much. I still run, and jump, and play in the water as often as I can. Oh, and I love to dig! And chew, though that doesn’t take much elbow strength.

I’m having my one year birthday celebration in April (it’s estimated that my being born day is tax day), and my human is hoping I’ll settle into the nice, polite dog that she knows is lurking just below the surface.
